Who do you hire – perfect resumes or fighters?

Do you hire people with the perfect resume or give chances to fighters?

As a hiring manager do you give preferences to a “silver spoon” or “scrapper“? Regina Hartley (HR director, UPS) distinguishes  these two candidates in her TED talk on Why the best hire might not have the perfect resume.

The video also brings up somebody who you would consider a silver spoon, but the person is actually scrapper and very successful.

Do you look at the resume as a story or just names and prestige?
