Walt Disney World Technical Writer Professional Internship: Spring 2017

Responsibilities

Your Role…

As part of the Facilities and Operations Services Training/Systems and Processes Team, the technical writer will be responsible for the creation and sustainment of technical and safety documentation supporting Walt Disney Parks and Resorts maintenance operations. The technical writer intern responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Assists in gathering of technical content, writes and updates documents using existing templates and style guides to facilitate standardization and compliance
  • Partners with WDW Leadership, Training, Maintenance, Engineering and other subject matter experts to develop technical procedural and/or training content for Engineering Services Cast Members
  • Participates in field walks and meetings at attractions to conduct research for new documentation and to refine/update existing documentation
  • Provides editorial oversight and configuration management of published documentation to ensure quality and consistency of final deliverables

Basic Qualifications

What You Bring to the Role:

  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher (Note: No rounding.)
  • Proven experience in research, developing content and writing
  • Must possess a valid US driver’s license
  • Attention to detail and well organized
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft applications
  • Availability to work various shifts commensurate with project requirements

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1 year experience or previous internship in a corporate environment

Required Education

  • Technical Writing, English or Communications related major
  • Junior, Senior or Graduate student status by arrival date
  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree or Post Graduate degree at an accredited 4 year college or university

Additional Information

Internship Eligibility:

  • Must be enrolled in a college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Professional Internship
  • Must not have already completed one consecutive year of employment on a Disney internship or program
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must possess unrestricted work authorization
  • Must possess a valid US driver’s license
  • Must provide full work availability
  • Must provide own transportation to/from work
  • Current Active Disney Cast Members must meet Professional Internship transfer guidelines (forWalt Disney World Cast Members this is no more than four points and one reprimand in the last six months; for Disneyland Cast Members this is six months of consecutive service and a performance record clear of any disciplinary issues (warnings, suspensions, etc.) for at least six months)


Location of position: This position has opportunities in Lake Buena Vista, FL

Program Length: The approximate dates of this internship are January 2017 – May 2017. Interns must be fully available for the duration of the internship.

Housing: A limited amount of company-sponsored housing is available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
