Engagement and Communication Internship – Spring 2017
Disney’s Animals, Science and Environment Line of Business

Responsibilities:

Disney’s Animals, Science and Environment (ASE) Line of Business is responsible for providing consistent and innovative expertise and resources in the areas of strategic initiatives, talent management, communication, standards and policies, safety, project management and capital planning.

Responsibilities

  • Write business and feature stories/articles for electronic and print communication, such as e-newsletters, fliers, Disney’s internal print publication (Eyes & Ears) and The Walt Disney Company intranet (The Hub), Disney Parks Blog and monthly communication of Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) information to operating areas
  • Take photos and videos for use in documentation, print and electronic communications, with limited desktop publishing for fliers, posters, dynamic signage and presentations
  • Work with various internal areas to ensure accuracy and consistency of information

Basic Qualifications

  • Demonstrated desktop publishing or graphic design experience
  • Must have a valid U.S. driver’s license
  • Operating a company vehicle is required for this role. The successful candidates must be willing and able to operate a company vehicle under inclement weather, including minimal lighting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated desktop publishing or graphic design experience
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator and video-editing programs
  • Prior participation in the Disney College Program or other Disney experience
  • Photography experience
  • Social Media experience

Required Education

  • Major in Business, Communication, Public Relations, Journalism or related majors

Preferred Education

  • Senior, graduate level or recent college graduate
  • A grade point average of 3.0 or higher

Internship Eligibility:

• Must be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR must have graduated from a college/university within 6 months OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Professional Internship
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Must not have completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program.
• Must possess unrestricted work authorization
• Must provide full work availability
• Must provide own transportation to/from work
• Current Active Disney cast members must meet Professional Internship transfer guidelines (for Walt Disney World cast members this is no more than four points and one reprimand in the last six months; for Disneyland cast members this is six months of consecutive service and a performance record clear of any disciplinary issues (warnings, suspensions, etc.) for at least six months)

Program Length: The approximate dates of this internship are January 2017 through June 2017. Interns must be fully available for the duration of the internship.

Housing: A limited amount of company-sponsored housing is available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
