This Disney Professional Internship does not include any direct animal contact as part of the regular duties. All daily animal husbandry and care is provided by our Animal Keeper Staff.

Responsibilities

Be a part of a small team of education specialists that provides strategic direction for The Walt Disney Company to engage and inspire Guests through integrated experiences and resources.

  • Enhance the brand by sharing Disney’s conservation, nature, and animal stories within all business segments.
  • Research, streamline, and create new written content to be used in social media, external websites, and internal communications.

Basic Qualifications

What you bring to the role…

  • Proven ability to develop engaging, accurate, and concise written content, as well as tailor messaging for various audiences
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities with minimal direction
  • Working knowledge of WordPress or other web editing software – including creating new webpages, adding text and images, and editing existing pages
  • Successful completion of the Disney College Program, Disney Professional Internship Program or Disney Culinary Programs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous multi-media design, copywriting, and editing experience
  • Previous relevant experience interacting with the public in a formal or informal learning setting (i.e. zoo, aquarium, museum, science center, or classroom)
  • Knowledge of various social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop Creative Suite – Photoshop, Illustrator, and/or InDesign, including photo editing and document creation

Required Education

  • Junior, senior, or recent college graduate
  • Life or Environmental Sciences, Education, Biology, Marine Science, Zoology, Recreation, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Environmental Public Policy, Conservation, or related major

  • Writing Sample – Write a short synopsis (Approximately 200-300 words) describing Simba, his family and the savanna habitat in which he lives using factual information about lions. Internship Eligibility:

• Must be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR must have graduated from a college/university within 6 months OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Professional Internship
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Must not have completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program.
• Must possess unrestricted work authorization
• Must provide full work availability
• Must provide own transportation to/from work
• Current Active Disney cast members must meet Professional Internship transfer guidelines (for Walt Disney World cast members this is no more than four points and one reprimand in the last six months; for Disneyland cast members this is six months of consecutive service and a performance record clear of any disciplinary issues (warnings, suspensions, etc.) for at least six months)

Program Length: The approximate dates of this internship are January 2017 through June 2017. Interns must be fully available for the duration of the internship.

Housing: A limited amount of company-sponsored housing is available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
