The Company is offering great business career opportunities in a global and international environment. We are looking for an ambitious Student (m/f) supporting our business who is interested in doing a project on High throughput nanofiltration method development.

There is a lack of broader understanding of fundamental factors governing the filtration performance of nanofiltration (NF) membranes. Only few studies attempted to provide more systematic, comprehensive picture of the interactions between polymeric NF membranes with various feeds. With the reality of slow and tedious nature of NF membranes testing, new screening methodologies are sought after. Therefore, a rapid evaluation tool like lab-scale high-throughput (HT) filtration ensemble have been envisioned. In the course of this project a new parallel HT NF screening device will be utilized to evaluate process-depended flux behavior of a range of NF membranes featuring various chemistries. The major tasks in this project is centered around: 1. The development and validation of HT screening protocols on a newly constructed HT filtration equipment on NF membranes. 2. Primary screening that focuses on interaction between the nano-porous membranes (selection of various surface chemistries) and different feeds. Fundamental description of the interaction in terms of accessibility of the pores architecture for solvent molecules and description of transport phenomena probed against various kinetic and thermodynamic constrains. 3. Provide recommendations for advanced screening phase i.e., an investigation of multi-component interactions.

You can start between September and December for a period of 3-6 months (exact timing to be discussed). You will be remunerated. In addition you can stay in a hotel room free of charge and share a living room and kitchen with max. 17 other (international) students. In the event this housing is full, you will be provided with alternative accommodation.

Qualifications

  • Strong interest in systematic problem solving and high throughput methodology is preferred.
  • Training in Catalysis and Membrane technology is an advantage
