Overview

The Company is offering great business career opportunities in a global and international environment. We are looking for an ambitious student (m/f)supporting our business who is interested in Data Mining and modeling for nanofiltration membranes to be located in Terneuzen, The Netherlands.

Dow Water & Process Solutions is evaluating nanofiltration membranes for use in solvent and solvent/water applications.  When using polymeric membranes, the interactions between the solvent-solute and membrane have a significant impact on both the flow through the membrane and the separation performance. Though the individual interactions, such as membrane-solvent or solute-solvent, can sometimes be studied independently, it is the combination of all these interactions that causes complexity. It is therefore sometimes very difficult to attribute certain observed filtration properties directly to for instance, membrane structure or chemistry. You will be using a combination of data mining and molecular modeling to identify these structure-property correlations. Insight in the mechanisms that play a role is critical for the development of new membranes.

You can start in the third quarter of 2016 or later for a period of 3-12 months (exact timing to be discussed). You will be remunerated. In addition you can stay in a hotel room free of charge and share a living room and kitchen with max. 17 other (international) students. In the event these rooms are full you will be provided with alternative accommodation.

Qualifications

  • You are studying for a Masters degree in Information Technology
  • You have a good working knowledge of English.
